Today Prison #1 postponed the hearing on the Yeni Fikir Youth Movement Chairman Ruslan Bashirli’s appeal for early release. Judge Rafael Aliyev presided over the hearing.
Baku City Nizami District Court told IRFS that in the hearing, the public prosecutor said that he was not prepared for the hearing and filed a motion requesting the court to postpone the hearing. Aliyev scheduled the next hearing for 22 August, at 15:00 pm.
Yeni Fikir Youth Movement Chairman Ruslan Bashirli was arrested on the eve of the parliamentary election on 18 May, 2005. The Grave Crimes Court sentenced Ruslan Bashirli to 7 years in jail on 12 July, 2006. Yeni Fikir Youth Organization Chairman was slandered and arrested for his activity during the meeting of Azadlig (“freedom”) election coalition between Musavat, APFP, and ADP parties during the 2005 parliamentary elections.
