SEVERAL “DALGA” YOUTH MOVEMENT MEMBERS TAKEN TO POLICE DEPARTMENT

Today, 28 April, several “Dalga” Youth Movement members were taken to the Sabail District Police Department Police Unit #9. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by “Dalga” Youth Movement Chairperson Vefa Jafarova.

According to Jafarova, several members of the group gathered in Dagustu Park to hold an open-air theater performance when several policemen interfered and took them to Sabail DPD Police Unit #9 at 1:45 p.m.
“At the police station, we were told that the organization members were detained because they were trying to conduct a protest,” said Jafarova. “They took down every detained “Dalga” member’s name and address.”
IRFS contacted Sabail DPD Police Unit #9 regarding this issue. Vagif Mirzayev, the person on duty, confirmed that movement members were brought to the unit, but did not reveal the reason for their detention. He added that they would be released after certain talks are conducted.
