The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety invites all interested parties to sign an online petition to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
This petition calls on Clinton to encourage Azerbaijan’s government to release imprisoned bloggers Adnan Hajizade and Emin Abudllayev (Milli) during her upcoming visit to Azerbaijan in the beginning of July. The authors of the text urge Clinton “to publicly raise this issue during [her] trip to Azerbaijan and call for the release of Hajizade and Milli in [her] discussions with the Azerbaijani president.” According to the petition, Clinton’s intervention “would be a strong voice in defense of free speech and fairness and play a crucial role in this case.”
