“Gundalik Baki” newspaper is being sued by the soldier Mursalov Fardi, who serves in the Defense Ministry Apartment Exploitation Service Unit.
This lawsuit stems from the article “Mehman Hajiyev’s Illegal Actions” in which libellious information was allegedly published about F.Mursalov. According to the lawsuit, F.Mursalov and his parents were concerned after reading this article and decided to take this step. “Gundalik Baki” newspaper chief editor Adil Huseynli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, and added that there’s nothing libelous and defamatory in the article.
“It is simply stated in the article that Defense Ministry Apartment Exploitation Service Unit Head Mehman Hajaliyev appointed Farid Mursalov to this unit with the help of a bribe,” said Huseynli. He evaluated this case as pressure by the Ministry against the newspaper.
“Soldier Farid Mursalov is used in this game. However we are not sure whether the Minister Safar Abiyev or Mehman Hajaliyev stand behind this,” he emphasized.
This case will be considered in the Yasamal District Court under the Chairmanship of Judge Khagani Tagiyev on 30 April at 10:30 am.
