Today, the Nasimi District Court of Baku delivered a verdict of not guilty against Gultekin Hajibeyli, a member of the coordination center of the National Council of Democratic Forces.
According to lawyer Agyl Laij, during the trial, Hajibeyli’s guilt under Article 147.2 (slander about committing a grave crime) was not proven.
A private prosecution complaint against her was filed by social media user Leyla Arif. She claimed that Hajibeyli identified the concepts of “Talysh” and “separatist”.
Hajibeyli previously stated that she only expressed her disagreement with the justification of the activities of Alikram Hummatov, who in 1993 proclaimed the Talysh-Mugan Republic in southern Azerbaijan, for which he was sentenced to life.
