THE PUBLICATION OF THE NEWSPAPER DIPLOMAT PROHIBITED

Publishing houses in Azerbaijan are refusing to print the weekly newspaper Diplomat. According to Yeni Musavat newspaper, the Kurdish editor-in-chief of the Diplomat newspaper, Tahir Suleyman, said that even the official Azerbaijan publishing house refused to print the newspaper without giving any reasons:

“They didn’t provide me any reason for their refusal. I was just informed that based on the request of the Turkish embassy the Presidential Administration ordered all the publishing houses not to publish the newspaper. I can not understand this prohibition.”

The Diplomat newspaper, which is published in the Azerbaijani and Kurdish languages, gives support to Murat Karayilan and Abdullah Ocalan, the leaders of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an internationally recognized terrorist organization.
