VOICE OF AMERICA ADVERTISEMENTS REMOVED

The advertisements of Voice of America have been removed from Baku Metro Stations, subway cars and buses since the end of the last week. Although “Meqa Vijin” Company, who is involved in placing ads on passenger buses, stated that they did not have any information about this, “Kommet” Company (placing ads in metro stations) Manager Yusif Hajiyev said that VOA has debts for advertising and has not made any payments for a month.

The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety contacted VOA’s Baku correspondent in connection with this issue; however he said they did not have any information about this.
IRFS also attempted to contact the Ministry of Transportation, Baku Metro and Transportation Department and this issue, but the calls went unanswered.
