On October 20, the Yeni Musavat newspaper received a notification from the Yasamal District Department for the Execution of Court Decisions, which requires the newspaper to pay off court-appointed 4,000 AZN fine within 10 days, Yeni Musavat lawyer Vagif Huseyn told the IRFS on October 23.
“The notification reads that if the requirement to pay the compensation is not met in time, compulsory execution will be applied. In addition, the debtor will be urged to pay the expenses for the compulsory execution procedures, based on the Articles 78, 79 and 81 of the Law on the Execution of Court Decisions” said the lawyer.
Note that a similar notification letter was received by the Azadliq newspaper.
Businessman Anar Mammadov appealed to the court citing humiliation of his honor and damage to his business reputation in the article titled "Kamaladdin Heydarov's bear eaten" (published in the Azadlig newspaper on 1 July, 2010 and in Yeni Musavat on 2 July, 2010), and the article titled "Sheikh drives Anar Mammadov out of Dubai" (published in Yeni Musavat on 14 September, 2010). Mammadov demanded 250,000AZN from each of the newspapers in compensation. On January 23, 2012 the Yasamal District Court partially granted the lawsuit by fining each newspaper 2000AZN and requiring that each publish a retraction and apologize.
