Yesterday (9 January), “Yeni Musavat” newspaper correspondent Afgan Mukhtarli, who faced police pressure, appealed to Internal Minister Ramil Usubov and Chief Prosecutor Zakir Garalov. A.Mukhtarli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
On 7 January Afgan Mukhtarli was beaten by the employees of the Yasamal District Police Department during an action held by religious people in front of Israeli Embassy to Azerbaijan.
“No medical examination has been conducted or no investigation has been carried out regarding the beating yet,” said the journalist. “I appealed to the Internal Minister and the Chief Prosecutor. I will sue the Internal Minister and the Chief Prosecutor if they do not express their position on the issue.”
