GANIMAT ZAHID NOT TRANSFERRED TO TREATMENT FACILITY

Justice Ministry Human Rights and Public Relations Office Head Faig Gurbanov said that there is not any problem regarding imprisoned editor-in-chief of Azadlig newspaper Ganimat Zahid`s treatment in the Treatment Facility, according to APA information agency.

Justice Ministry Medical Head Office Chief Rafael Mehdiyev told Trend News that Ganimat Zahid’s treatment will be completed.
“G.Zahid does not have any complaints about his health and he wants his teeth to be treated.  His treatment will be secured,” said R.Mehdiyev.
Ganimat Zahid is suffering from chest and toothaches. Because of this, Ganimat Zahid`s lawyer Alaif Hasanov appealed to the Justice Ministry to transfer him to the treatment facility. Several days ago G.Zahid appealed to Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova to assist him to be transferred to the treatment facility.
Ganimat Zahid, who has been recognized as prisoner of conscience, was convicted under articles 127.2.3 (hooliganism with intentional infliction of minor bodily harm) and 221 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code and imprisoned for four years.   
Azadlig newspaper has been published since 1989 and operates as daily newspaper.
