Magsud Mahmudov, an Azerbaijani citizen who is on the international wanted list, was arrested in Ukraine.
According to a joint statement of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Mahmudov was put on the wanted list on January 10, 2020 on charges of committing a crime under Article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with large-scale damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
He was detained on the territory of Ukraine, brought to Azerbaijan on September 18 and handed over to the investigation.
Makhmudov is known as a blogger who speaks with insults, harsh non-caesur criticism of the Azerbaijani authorities, as well as public figures. He participated in anti-government actions in Baku.
