The editor-in-chief of jamaz.info site is fined for 500 manats

On January 12 the editor-in-chief of jamaz.info Fikret Feremezoglu was summoned to the office of general prosecutor of Azerbaijan. From the prosecutor’s office the editor-in-chief was taken to the of Sabunchi district of Baku. The court held the editor-in-chief guilty under article 388-1.1 (Placement in the information internet resource or in the  information telecommunication network of the information prohibited from distribution as well as non-preclusion from placement of such information) of the Code on administrative offences, and fined him for 500 manats. The reason behind this was the publication on jamaz.info site of the article titled Shusha was shelled from Khakendi. According to Fikret Feremezoglu, in general prosecutor’s office he was told that the article caused dismay and fear in the society.

The editor-in-chief does not deem himself guilty and intends to submit an appeal with complaint about the court decision.
