Azerbaijan Presidential Executive Administration Socio-Political Department head Ali Hasanov said that the information disseminated by the Republic’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office about journalist Agil Khalil is true and reflects real processes, according to Trend News Agency.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan’s Chief Prosecutor is prepared to present evidence in court in connection with the information disseminated about “Azadlig” Newspaper journalist Agil Khalil and will prove this,” said Hasanov. “Unfortunately, the press is conducting a dirty campaign surrounding this issue. And some Azerbaijani press organs, as well as international media representatives are being attracted to this.”
Hasanov also expressed his opinion on statements made by OSCE Special Representative for Media Freedom Miklos Haraszti. According, to APA, Hasanov said, “His assessment of the media situation in Azerbaijan shows his lack of professionalism. Facts present must be supported and the ideas of a representative of the OSCE cannot be based on someone’s personal conclusion. Haraszti’s speech was emotional and full of subjective conclusions.”
