Azerbaijan’s National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) filed a lawsuit against “Avropa+” radio.

NTRC Assistant Chairman Togrul Mammadov told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that the license given to the radio station as local radio should be ended according to the lawsuit which will be considered in the Economy Court.
The broadcasting of three foreign radio stations – “Radio Liberty”, VOA, and BBC – and local radio “Avropa+” via FM frequency was ceased as of 1 January 2009 on the basis of NTRC’s decision adopted on 30 December 2008.
