AZERBAIJAN RECOGNIZED AS NOT FREE COUNTRY

Yesterday, 12 January, Freedom House released its findings from the latest edition of Freedom in the World, the annual survey of global political rights and civil liberties.

Azerbaijan has been included on the list of not free countries again like Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan. Azerbaijan’s neighboring countries – Turkey, Georgia and Armenia have been ranked as partially free countries in the freedom index.
According to Freedom House, the year of 2009 was not the year of lagging for freedom but rather the year of stagnation. The situation of the freedom has been deteriorating for the past four years. This setback was marked in the post soviet region especially.
