Caucasus University Closure Rumored to Be Due to Fetullah Gulen

The founder of the Caucasus University has applied to the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic, informing the Ministry of their today’s decision to close down the university.

According to the Ministry of Education, upon receipt of relevant official documents, the Ministry will form a working group to ensure that the students studying at the Caucasus University continue their education and student placement process will ensue.

Media reports link the Caucasus University to Fetullah Gulen. Previously, Turkish lyceums and training courses also linked to Fetullah Gulen were closed in Azerbaijan.

According to SOCAR vice-president Khalig Mammadov, the Caucasus University’s management has been delegated to Baku Higher Oil School. Mammadov said the Caucasus University’s management has been transferred to Baku Higher Oil School according to today’s decision of Azerbaijan International Education Center.

“The students will continue their education as before, and the teaching staff will also remain in place,” the vice-president said.
