“Artificial problems are being created in connection with the sale of ‘Hurriyyet’ Newspaper in Ganja,” according to today’s edition of “Hurriyyet” Newspaper.
The newspaper reports that a man named Gadir, who is the nephew of famous athlete and first vice-president of Azerbaijan Tae-Kwon-Do Federation Fizuli Musayev, is going to the newspaper distribution companies, introducing himself as an employee of the National Security Ministry, and confiscating all copies of “Hurriyyet.” Gadir reportedly pays for only 20 copies of the newspaper, saying that it is forbidden to bring more than 20 copies to Ganja, and the newspaper is being confiscated because of its articles.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety has attempted to investigate this matter, and could not find confirmation of this information. IRFS spoke to Ganja resident Imamverdi Valiyev. Valiyev said that “Hurriyyet” Newspaper was on sale today in Ganja. In addition, “Gaya” Press Distribution Director Khanhuseyn Aliyev told IRFS that there are no problems with the sale of “Hurriyyet” Newspaper in Ganja.
