Today (May 5) in the Yasamal District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Khagani Tagiyev, a hearing was conducted on businessman Eldar Mammedaliyev’s lawsuit for insult to honor and dignity against “Tehgigat” (Investigation) Newspaper.
During the hearing the judge recommended that the two sides reconcile. While the defendant agreed to this, the plaintiff did not.
After this the next hearing on this case was scheduled for 20 May at 4 p.m.
Recall that this lawsuit stems for the article “Black boys black operations in Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan,” published in the 20-30 December 2007 edition of “Tehgigat” Newspaper. The plaintiff is seeking the publication of a refutation, and the institution of a 10,000 AZN fine against the newspaper.
