Yesterday, 10 March, "For the Sake of Garabagh and the Republic Movement" conducted a meeting. Along with other things, changes and amendments to the Law on Mass Media have been discussed during the event and a statement has been issued.
The representative of the propaganda group Ali Karimli told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety that the changes and amendments to the Law on Mass Media creates legal basis to close press publications down for two months in several cases and this gives additional opportunities to the government to oppress free media. According to Ali Karimli, the free press in Azerbaijan is working under political attacks and these changes and amendments will make matters worse for press organs. He stated that he is against these changes and demanded that they should be cancelled before entering into force.
