The Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety is conducting a fundraising campaign to gather financial assistance for the families imprisoned Azeri journalists in connection with upcoming national holiday “Novruz”.
This was reported during a press conference in the press center of IRFS.
It was noted during the conference that this fundraising will continue until 20 March, and the gathered amount will be divided among the families of six imprisoned journalists – “Azadlig” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ganimat Zahid, “Azadlig” Newspaper satiric/journalist Sakit Zahidov, Editor-in-Chief of “Gundalik Azerbaijan” and “Realniy Azerbaijan” Newspapers Eynulla Fatullayev, “Bizim Yol” Newspaper Correspondent Mushfig Huseynov, “Ideal” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ali Hasanov and “Tolishi Sado” Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Novruzali Mammadov.It was also noted in the press conference that the aim in conducting the fundraising is not only to assist the journalists financially, but also to identify the level of solidarity among journalist and civil society.
