“If illegalities or some other issues arise on TV channels during the election campaign, the NTRC (National Radio and TV Council) will absolutely get involved and take relevant measures.”
NTRC Chairman Nushrivan Maharramli told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
Noting that the Central Election Committee (CEC) has supervision over the election campaign on TV, Maharramli said that the CEC will create a relevant press group that will include TV and print journalists.
In addition to this, Maharramli noted that in accordance to local legislation, the NTRC will continue to monitor TV channels before the elections, during the elections and after the elections.
