Representatives of Ombudsman’s Office visit Leyla Yunus and Khadija Ismayil

 

 

On November 18, members of the National Preventive Group (NPG) of the Ombudsman’s Office visited Baku Detention Facility of the Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service to assess appeals, detention conditions and treatment, reported the press service of the Ombudsman’s Office.

The group members also met with human rights defender Leyla Yunus and journalist                                                       Khadija Ismayil, who are being held in Baku Detention Facility.

According to the Ombudsman’s Office, there were no complaints about the detention conditions or treatment.

 

However, on November 17, Leyla Yunus’ lawyer Elchin Gambarov reported that his client’s health has deteriorated, and that despite his requests she has not been transferred to the prison’s medical facility.
