“SIMURG-M” TV CHANNEL ASKS FOR TIME TO PAY ITS DEBTS

Today, 10 February, in the Baku Local Economy Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Museyib Bayramov, a hearing was held on the lawsuit of the State Radiofrequency Department against "Simurg-M" Independent TV and Radio Company due to the company’s debts.

The plaintiff’s representative Musa Rasulov and defense’s representative Tural Shakarov participated in the hearing.
"Simurg-M" TV and Radio Company’s representative T. Shakarov admitted that the company has debts and asked for a concrete period of time to pay these debts. He noted that “Simurg-M” is a private TV channel and its coverage area is small. However, the tariffs applied to nationwide channels are also being applied to this channel.
Then Radiofrequency Department’s representative M. Rasulov said that the Tariff Council, not the Radiofrequency Department, approves tariffs.
Judge M.Bayramov has scheduled the next hearing on this case for 17 February at 2:00 p.m.
Although the judge noted that the hearing was broadcast live on internet via cameras installed in the hall, Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety employees were not permitted to film the hearing.
