CE’s Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammerberg held several meetings in Nakhchivan.
On 2 March, in “Duzdag” hotel, Hammerberg met with the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) Nakhchivan correspondents Elman Abbasov, Hakimeldostu Mehdiyev, Democracy and NGO Development Resource Centre Chairwoman Malahat Nasibova and the center’s employee Ilgar Nasibov. Recent Beneniyar events in Nakhchivan, the situation of human rights, freedom of speech and media were discussed during the meeting.
In the framework of his visit, T.Hammerberg met with Supreme Assembly Chairman Vasif Talibov and also visited Autonomous Republic’s Ombudsman Administration and the Mental Diseases Dispenser. The Commissioner met with the residents of Benenyar village.
Yesterday, in the evening, Thomas Hammerberg, who was returning to Baku, met with journalists in the Nakhchivan International Airport but stopped short of giving any detailed information regarding his visit to Nakhchivan.
