On December 31 Ministry of Interior press service representative Ehsan Zahidov responded verbally the information request addressed to Deputy Minister Vilayat Eyvazov by the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety.
Recall that, on December 18 2007 the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety sent to Vilayat Eyvazov an information request in written form. While speaking via telephone, Zahidov noted that, “Mr. Eyvazov didn’t mention concretely Sakit Zahidov, he spoke generally about imprisoned drug addicts’ conditions”. Ehsan Zahidov also added that, the information regarding this expression has been given both in “Azadlig” Newspaper and in the ANS TV channel. In the information it is told that, Sakit Zahidov’s name was mentioned by mistake during the telecast.
Recall that, on December 11 2007 “Khabarchi” announcer of ANS TV channel gave information based to Vilayat Eyvazov: “all information regarding the tortures against Sakit Zahidov is groundless and false”. After that TV channel broadcasted a video topic related to Eyvazov’s speech: “he suffers from aches. Of course he is a drug addict and sick. He has drug dependence. He can hurt himself”. But Zahidov’s name wasn’t mentioned during the video topic. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety addressed an information request to Vilayat Eyvazov to reveal whether he mentioned Sakit Zahidov’s name or not.
