AKIF NAGI TESTIFIES IN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Yesterday, 23 December, Karabakh Liberation Organization Chairman (KLO) Akif Nagi, who beat "Yeni Musavat" column writer Zamin Haji (Hajiyev), gave testimony in the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the incident. The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by A.Nagi.

“I testified in the Binagadi District Prosecutor’s Office yesterday,” said A.Nagi. “The investigation is being conducted under article 163.1 (interference in legal work of journalist) of the Criminal Code. However, investigator Ilyas Seyidov stated that the article 163.1 can be substituted by another article.”
On 12 December KLO Chairman A.Nagi along with several people attacked "Yeni Musavat" editorial office, insulted the newspapers employee Z.Haji and used physical pressure against him. This stemmed from Z.Haji's article entitled "Dialogue between two deaf" published in the same day edition of "Yeni Musavat" newspaper where critical thoughts about KLO Chairman A.Nagi were expressed.
A criminal case has been opened in the Binagadi District Court under article 163.1 (interference in legal work of journalist) of the Criminal Code in connection with the incident.
