National TV and Radio Council (NTRC) will issue its final decision on foreign radio stations which are broadcast via national frequencies in the near future.
The Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety was told this by NTRC Assistant Chairman Togrul Mammadov.
“NTRC Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli has already announced the date of the meeting,” said Mammadov. “The meeting will take place on either 25 December, or 26 December or 27 December.”
Three foreign radio stations – "Radio Liberty', "Voice of America" and BBC – are broadcast in Azerbaijan. On 31 October NTRC Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli announced that the broadcasting of foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan via local frequencies will be ceased at the end of this year.
