On 29 June 2009 Amnesty International UK is planning to conduct an action entitled “Azerbaijan: Paper in Chains” in front of the Azerbaijan Embassy in London. Participants in the action will call for the release of wrongfully imprisoned Azeri journalist Eynulla Fatuallyev, who recently was named the winner of Amnesty International’s “Special Award for Journalism Under Threat.” (see http://www.amnesty.org.uk/news_details.asp?NewsID=18225)
During the “Azerbaijan: Paper in Chains” action, participants will gather outside the Azeri embassy and hold a giant paper chain. Each link in the chain will carry the signature in support of the message “I believe speech should be free. I believe Eynulla Fatuallyev should be free. And I believe the papers of Azerbaijan should not be kept in chains.”
