Anar Bayramli’s appeal heard

On July 19th a preliminary hearing was held on the appeal filed by Anar Bayramli, Iran’s Sahar TV correspondent in Azerbaijan, against June 11th decision of the Binagady District Court.

Consideration of the appeal is scheduled for August 2nd 11:00am by presiding judge Abdin Abdinbayov.  
Bayramli was detained on February 17th by officers from Binagadi Police Office #4, who reportedly found 4 milligrams of heroin in his pockets. He was sentenced to two years in jail under Article 234.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal purchase or storage of drugs or psychotropic substances in a quantity exceeding personal dose, with no intent to sell).
