ANDREAS HERKEL GOES TO NAKHCHIVAN

Today, 10 April, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Monitoring Committee Special Rapporteur on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel is visiting Nakhchivan for one day.

The purpose of the trip is to gather information from Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for the PACE report on Azerbaijan. The rapporteur had a meeting with Nakhchivan Supreme Assembly Chairman Vasif Talibov and the newly build mixed regime prison.
During the second half of the day, Andreas Herkel met the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety’s regional correspondents, employees of Radio Liberty and “Turan” Information Agency, and representatives of NGOs in the office of Development Resource Center for NGOs. The rapporteur received information about the situation of human rights and media in the Autonomous Republic.
