APPEAL AGAINST DECISION TO DESTROY BOOK WILL BE CONSIDERED NEXT WEEK

The court hearing on the complaint case against the decision to destroy the book "Public TV in the Press’ Mirror," which was supposed to take place today under the chairmanship of Appellate Court judge Rashadat Agayeva, was postponed. Public TV appealed to the court to delay the process.

Although the court secretary didn't explain why, it is know that the TV channel made this appeal. The secretary told the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety that one of the judges is at a seminar now and this gives grounds to postpone the hearing.
 The hearing is now scheduled to take place on 12 March at 4:30 p.m.
Recall that on 13 November 2007 Binegedi District Court Judge Allahveren Hasanov adopted a decision to destroy the book "Public TV in the Press’ Mirror" composed by "Azadlig" newspaper editor Rovshan Hajili. On 20 February 2007 Public TV appealed to the court requesting that the book be deemed disgraceful for its business authority, to take the book out of circulation and destroyed, the book’s republication should be banned and Rovshan Hajibeyli should apologize to Public TV’s staff. The court provided fulfilled the claim and Rovshan Hajili appealed to the Appellate court to file a complaint against the decision.
