APPEAL FILED ON MUSHFIG HUSEYNOV’S CASE

An appeal has been filed in the Appellate Court against the decision to imprison "Bizim Yol" newspaper employee Mushfig Huseynov. Huseynov’s Vugar Khasayev told this to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety.

Khasayev also mentioned that the date of the hearing and the name of the judge will be determined on 20 February.  
Recall that Mushfig Huseynov was sentenced to six years of imprisonment, followed by an additional two-year period during which he is not allowed to work as a journalist. This decision was adopted by Grave Crimes Court Judge Jamal Ramazanov on 21 January 2008.
