“ASSISTANCE FUND FOR FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND JOURNALISTS’ DEFENSE” ALLOCATES FUND TO JOURNALISTS

On May 22 “Assistance Fund for Freedom of Speech and Journalists’ Defense” conducted a meeting. During the meeting five applications were considered and a decision was adopted to allocate fund to journalists in the amount of 1400 USD, according to “Media Forum” News site.

According to the decision, the journalists that received funding are “Yeni Musavat” columnist Mahal Ismayiloglu (500 USD), “Tezadlar” newspaper editorial office (400 USD), “Ayna” and “Zerkalo” newspapers’ employee Idrak Abbasov (250 USD) and “Azadlig” newspaper employee Sakit Zahidov (250 USD).
“Assistance Fund for Freedom of Speech and Journalists’ Defense” was founded by “Yeni Nesil” Journalist Union, “Azerbaijan Journalist Union”, Najaf Najafov Fund, and “League for Democratic Journalists” and operates through financial support from the Open Society Institute Assistance Fund.
