The trial of Khural newspaper chief editor Avaz Zeynalli was reopened in the Baku Grave Crimes Court on November 28. Judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva presided over the hearing.
Avaz Zeynalli answered the questions of public prosecutor Ramazan Hadiyev regarding his acquaintance with former MP Guler Ahmedova, his articles about Ahmedova and his relations with former chief editor of the Merkez newspaper, Nigar Almangizi.
Zeynalli said that he first met Ahmedova in 2003-2004, when he was carrying out investigations into children’s homes and childhood diseases. He also provided details for the statements on Guler Ahmedova published in the Khural newspaper.
The trial was postponed until December 5th, 2pm.
Journalist Avaz Zeynalli is charged with taking large bribe and extortion.
