Today Baku Appeals court held a hearing on the appeal by the Khural newspaper against the lawsuit filed by the Baku-Baltika LLC director Adam Tlekhuray against Khural newspaper and its editor-in-chief Avaz Zeynalli.
In the last court meeting lawyer Elchin Sadigov ahd filed a motion asking the court to ensure Zeynalli’s presence in the hearing. Furthermore, Zeynalli had repeatedly stressed that his presence in the hearing is very important. But the judge did not grant this motion once again.
Later the judge postponed the proceedings for June 28, 3:10pm due to the absence of Adam Tlekhuray’s legal representative Arif Agayev in the hearing.
On January of 2012, Narimanov District Court partially granted the lawsuit filed by Baltika-Baku LLC against Zeynalli, which demanded 150,000 AZN in compensation for libel and damage to honor and business reputation. Zeynalli was sentenced to a 50,000 AZN fine.
