
According to Jalilov, Mammadov left home at about 10:00am to visit his relative, who is being treated at Neftchilar Hospital. He phoned his family at 11:30am and told that he would return in 30 minutes, but did not come home.
“When we called his mobile number between 2:00pm and 3:50pm, an unknown man answered that he was passing a medical examination and was not able to answer. Only at 5:30pm the police confirmed that Mammadov was detained on drug charges”.
In the evening police searched Mammadov’s apartment.
NB. The previous editor-in-chief of Tolishi-Sado newspaper, Novruzali Mammadov, was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in jail for high treason in 2007. In 2009 he died in the prison of the Penitentiary Service.
