AZADLIQ NEWSPAPER AND N. JAVADLI GIVEN GERD BUCERIUS PRIZE FOR PRESS FREEDOM IN EASTERN EUROPE

Today in the Nobel Institute in Oslo, Norway the awards ceremony was held for the Gerd Bucerius Prize for Press Freedom in Eastern Europe and the Stiftelsen Fritt Ord prize for Press Freedom in Russia. 

“Azadliq” Newspaper from Azerbaijan and “Bizim Yol” Newspaper correspondent Natiq Javadli both received the Gerd Bucerius Prize for Press Freedom in Eastern Europe. With this prize “Azadliq” Newspaper received a 30,000 EUR award as mass media, while Javadli was given a 10,000 EUR prize as an individual journalist.
The other award recipients for the the Gerd Bucerius Prize for Press Freedom in Eastern Europe are Novy Chas (mass media) from Belarus, Marianna Grigorian (journalist) from Armenia and Batumelebi (mass media) from Georgia.   
The Stiftelsen Fritt Ord prize for Press Freedom in Russia was given to Zoya Svetova (journalist) and Roman Shleynov (editor).  
Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Store, writer Asne Seierstad, Chair of Stiftelsen Fritt Ord Francis Sejerstad, and other high level guests attended and participated in the ceremony.
