“AZERBAIJAN JOURNALISTS FREE COLLEAGUES CLUB” PUBLIC UNION CREATED
Today, 16 October, in the press center of the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety, Editor-in-chief of “Milli Yol” Newspaper and “Poligon” Information Agency Shahin Agabeyli conducted a press conference regarding the creation of a new organization to defend journalists in Azerbaijan.
Shahin Agabeyli gave information about “Azerbaijan Journalists’ Free Colleagues Club” organization. He said that the main purpose of creating this organization is to prevent exploitation of the journalists, to gather and distribute detailed information regarding violation against journalists.
“Journalists don’t sign labor contracts when they are hired. This is one of the biggest violations of rights,” said Agabeyli. “That is why we will hold a meeting with editors-in-chiefs in order to help eliminate this problem”.
Shahin Agabeyli added that they will cooperate with IRFS, ASI Club and other journalist organizations and press organs. The activity of the club, and relevant information will be available to the public via the http://Pia.az site.
