Two days ago imprisoned “Bizim yol” newspaper employee Mushfig Huseynov, who is being held in prison #2, was placed in the treatment facility because his health deteriorated seriously.
“Mushfiq Huseynov said that although he was allotted to receive six months of treatment initially, after his arrival to the hospital he was told that he would have to stay in the hospital for nine months since his situation is very critical,” said J.Huseynov.
Through contact with the Justice Ministry’s Press Service regarding Mushfig Huseynov’s situation, IRFS learned from an unidentified source at the press service that M.Huseynov was transferred to the Justice Ministry’s Specialized Treatment facility because his tuberculosis became worse, and he will continue his treatment there.
Mushfig Huseynov was convicted under Article 311.1 (receiving of a bribe) of the Criminal Code on July, 2007 and on 21 January 2008 was sentenced by Grave Crimes Court Judge Jamal Ramazanov to 6 years of imprisonment. However, this sentence was reduced to 5 years through a decision adopted by the Appellate Court.
