The Azerbaijani parliament has not yet responded to the appeal by ‘Social’ News Agency for accreditation to cover parliamentary activities, said the agency director Taleh Shahsuvarli.
“In January, we appealed to parliament for accreditation to watch its sessions. The press service told me that we would be allowed to watch the February hearings in the parliament. But yesterday I was told that our request had been rejected.”
Shahsuvarli said that they would be sending an enquiry to the parliament leader Ogtay Asadov and the Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov, requesting an investigation.
IRFS phoned the parliament (on 510-90-04, 498-97-48) to seek comment, but no one responded.
Social News Agency was registered in October, 2009. it runs “axar.az” news portal.
