Baku Steel Company demands 1 million AZN from Yeni Musavat newspaper

The Baku Steel Company has filed a lawsuit with the Nizami District Court against Yeni Musavat newspaper, as reported by the musavat.com.

According to the website, Yeni Musavat was sued over the article “Industrial plant of Zulfugarli brothers plundered and closed” published in the newspaper on November 23, 2012.

The lawsuit reads that the employees of the Baku Steel Company LLC objected to the ‘false and untrue information’ that the newspaper published about the company.  This is an act of misuse of democracy and freedom of expression. The newspaper published false information about the Baku Steel Casting Open Joint Stock Company and Director of its Board Ogtay Rafiyev, thus damaging the business reputation of both the director and the company staff.
In this regard, the company filed a suit with the Nizami District Court of Baku, asking the court to require that the newspaper provide retraction and pay 1 million AZN in compensation.
