BOOK PUBLISHED ON SITUATION OF MEDIA IN OSCE REGION

“2007 has been a complicated year for Azerbaijan; there are still four imprisoned journalists in the country.”

According to APA, this was reflected in the book “Ten years of freedom of media in OSCE region: current and future difficulties” published by the office of OSCE Special Representative on Speech and Media Freedom Miklos Haraszti.

It is also noted that the book addresses development in Azerbaijan journalism, “Investigative journalism is observed to be developing. Professional standards should be developed and strengthened. Journalists should understand that they have duties along with their rights.”

The book also talks about demands for adopting of the defamation law for Azerbaijan made by the OSCE and European Commission, and OSCE trainings conducted for journalists.
