Monitoring Committee co¬-rapporteurs of Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Andres Herkel and Yevgeniya Jivkova were not allowed to meet with imprisoned "Azadlig" Newspaper Chief Editor Ganimat Zahid today.
Human rights defender Novella Jafaroglu reported this to the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety. She said, "The investigation into G. Zahid's case is not over and he has not been sentenced yet. Government officials revealed this during today's meeting of the Working Group on Political Prisoners."
