Court dismisses complaint over suspension of investigation into journalist Rafig Tagi murder case

On April 24, Nasimi District Court heard the complaint filed against the decision on suspension of the investigation into the murder of Rafig Tagi. The hearing was presided over by Judge Rashid Samadov. Elchin Sadigov, lawyer of the late journalist told the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety today.

“Our complaint against the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office for January 8, 2014 decision on the suspension of preliminary investigation into the murder of Rafig Tagi, who died of knife attack injuries in 2011, was heard and not granted”, said the lawyer.

Rafig Tagi was stabbed by unknown assailants in Baku on November 19, 2011 and died after 4 days treatment. The Serious Crimes Investigation Department suspended the criminal proceedings on the case on January 8, 2014.
