COURT DOESN’T FULFILL AGIL KHALIL’S LAWSUIT

Today, 17 July, in the Nasimi District Court, under the chairmanship of Judge Ikram Shirinov, a lawsuit filed by "Azadlig" Newspaper correspondent Agil Khalil, in connection with a court decision to dismiss the criminal case on the beating of Khalil on 22 February in "Zeytun Baglari" (Olive Gardens) was rejected.

Khalil’s defense lawyer E. Sadigov, who told this to the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety. Sadigov said that they will now file an appeal in the Appellate Court.

Recall that the Chief Prosecutors Office dismissed the criminal case on the beating of Agil Khalil in “Zeytun Baglari” (Olive Gardens) on 21 May, despite video and photographic evidence of the incident. Khalil wasn’t happy about this, and appealed to the court issue call verdict calling the dismissal unlawful and to reopen the criminal case.
