COURT HEARING CONDUCTED ON LAWSUIT OF FORMER MINISTER AGAINST AZTV AND “LIDER” TV

Today (12 June) a court hearing on the lawsuit of imprisoned former Health Minster Ali Insanov against AZTV and “Lider” TV channels took place in the Baku Appellate Court under the chairmanship of Judge Tatyana Goldman.

According to the reports given to ANS PRESS by the court, Ali Insanov’s defense lawyers objected to the content of the court, but the judge didn’t fulfill their motion.  According to the reports, A.Insanov claims that he was slandered and his honor and dignity were humiliated in the film which was broadcast in AZTV and “Lider” TV, and ornaments (bars of gold) demonstrated in the film didn’t belong to him.

The next hearing is now scheduled to take place on 14 June.

Last year, Insanov was imprisoned for 11 years for committing financial crimes; however he was initially arrested in the run-up to the 2005 parliamentary elections on charges of planning a coup.
