AZERBAIJAN GOVERNMENT WANTS TO MAKE CHANGES AND AMENDMENTS TO RESOLUTION PREPARED BY PACE

Azerbaijani government has expressed an interest in the “Activity of Democratic Institutions in Azerbaijan” resolution which is scheduled to be discussed during the summer session of Parliament Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE).

Head of Azerbaijan Milli Mejlis (Parliament) Delegation in PACE Samad Seyidov told this to APA. 

According to him, discussion of the resolution will occur on the second day (24 June) of the session. On the first day of the session (23 June) the final version of the resolution will be discussed in the Monitoring Committee of PACE.
“We have some changes and amendments to make to his document,” said Sayidov, adding that the delegation group will express its position on the document during the discussions.

The resolution “The Situation of Democratic Institutions in Azerbaijan” was prepared in the meeting that the Monitoring Committee conducted on 26 May in Kiev. According to APA, it is noted in the document that the human rights situation in Azerbaijan has worsened during the pre-election period.  The release of imprisoned journalists and political prisoners is demanded in the document.
