CRIME AGAINST JOURNALISTS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY

“Journalists shouldn’t be pressured. They shouldn’t be threatened, beaten or arrested.

Journalists shouldn’t receive threatening calls,” U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said today during a press conference in the “American Center” on holding democratic elections, and about U.S. assistance for the elections. Derse said she considers the thorough investigation of criminal cases against journalists important, and added that conditions for the development of the media in Azerbaijan should be created.
“We can’t agree to the notion that there’s no problem associated with the press in Azerbaijan. We want the existing problems to be solved quickly. We need to conduct trainings for journalists and help them develop,” said A. Derse.
