On 24 February, Sumgayit Court of Appeal chaired by Judge Farmayil Zeynalli heard an appeal filed against Sumgayit City Court’s decision of 20 February on D18 Movement member Gadir Agakishiyev.
As reported on D18 Movement Deputy Chair Samira Agayeva’s Facebook page, the appeal was not granted.
During the appeal hearing, lawyer Fariz Namazli said the 30-day administrative imprisonment sentence was unfounded and the activist had been arrested for his critical social media posts.
Recall that, D18 Movement member Gadir Agakishiyev has been convicted of disobedience to a lawful demand of the police and sentenced to 30 days of administrative arrest by Sumgayit City Court’s decision.
D18 Movement head Ruslan Izzatli has also associated Agakishiyev’s arrest with his political activity.
