DECISION IN CONNECTION WITH FOREIGN RADIO STATIONS TO BE ISSUED IN NEAR FUTURE

“The broadcasting of foreign radio stations in Azerbaijan should be solved within the framework of the law.”

Azerbaijan National TV and Radio Council Chairman Nushiravan Maharramli told this to APA while expressing his opinion about the views of U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor David Kramer on the fate of foreign radio stations broadcasts in Azerbaijan.

According to Maharramli, in mid December, during a meeting of the NTRC, it will be determined for the last time whether foreign radio stations will continue to broadcast via local frequencies.

Maharramli admitted that AZTV warned Voice of America that as of December 31 it will cease the broadcasts of the VOA program News Flash on AZTV due to an order from the NTRC.
